StreamVia Review

StreamVia VPN is a UK based company established in 2010. Through this VPN Provider, you can unlock blocked channels, view restricted social media sites and use Instant Messaging applications. With strong encryption, you can browse freely and anonymously through the web.

Stream Via allows you to choose any server location within its vast server network of sixteen countries.

As for protocol options, you can choose between PPTP, L2TP or OpenVPN protocol. The most recommended is the OpenVPN protocol. But if you are from China or Iran then go for a fourth option: Stealth.

StreamVia has massive compatibility. I was amazed at the list of compatible devices. You can literally use it on any device that can connect to the internet: from PCs, Smartphones, tablets to all sorts of gaming consoles.

Moreover, StreamVia imposes no restrictions on bandwidth.

The company offers four subscription packages. The differences in the packages are based on the number of servers accessed, P2P sharing and SmartStream. The package offerings are as follows:

  • All VPN:

Access the entire server network i.e. 16 countries at $9.49 per month.

  • VPN UK & USA:

Access the servers in USA and UK at $7.99 per month.

  • VPN Europe:

Access the servers in the European region i.e. 12 countries at $7.99 per month.

  • Single VPN:

Access a server in UK or USA at $6.40 per month.

These service packages meet individual as well as corporate needs. You can subscribe for one, three, six or twelve months.

SmartStream is designed to provide you uninterrupted access to your favorite content. It is like an add-on. You can get it with the ‘All VPN’ and ‘VPN UK & USA’ packages. However, the service doesn’t run on all ISPs. This is mainly because many ISPs are too stringent in their filtering policy or have other technical issues.

Sadly you won’t be able to view SmartStream on mobile internet connection, Wi-fi connection and some country specific ISPs (i.e. China). Others include SingTel, StratHub cable vision, Emirates Telecommunication Corporation, Telkom SA Limited, True ISP, TelstraClear and Vodafone (Italy)
P2P sharing: If you are a heavy torrent user (or even a light user), then it is ideal to connect to the Netherlands server. Netherlands, as a state is a huge advocate of unrestricted online access and full online privacy/ anonymity. Torrents are 100% legal over there. You can enjoy P2P sharing by opting for ‘VPN UK & USA’ or ‘Single VPN’ package.

StreamVia does not offer a wide array of acceptable payment options. It is through either your PayPal account or your debit/credit card.

Privacy policy:

When you book an order with StreamVia, expect to be asked for a lot of personal information.

And yes the company uses cookies for whoever visits their site, but that isn’t a big deal since many websites have them nowadays. A good thing is the company doesn’t bother you with frequent promotional newsletters. They rarely send one, so no harm opting for a newsletter.

Regarding log policy, the company keeps a record of bandwidth utilization, log in and log out time. The logs are kept for 14 days.

Since third parties handle the billing, StreamVia does not have much to do with your financial credentials.

Refund policy:

The refund policy is not very attractive, but at least they have it. You can get a refund if you submit a request within 3 days of initial payment. Beyond 3 days, unless the delay is on company’s behalf, don’t expect a refund.

Customer support:

For the VPNs I have reviewed until now, StreamVia had the shortest response time. I tested the service by submitting a general query and received a response in 3 minutes! That is a very impressive response-time considering the difference in time zone between the company and me.
Moreover, you can get some good detailed setup guides for all the major OS on the company website. You can choose for windows (7, 8, XP and Vista), Linux, Mac OS, Android (2x and 4x) and iOS (iPod, iPhone and iPad).

DMCA policy:

StreamVia responds in a very encouraging manner to the copywriters or authorized representatives who have submitted a valid DMCA notice.

I found the service very focused on core features, which is a good thing.
Starting with the things that make StreamVia a good choice: in terms of system compatibility and protocol choice, StreamVia has better functional features than many other service providers. The customer support is brilliant and very fast- almost like live chat. So, it’s no big deal that the company does not offer live chat option for customer support.

There were no big turnoffs but StreamVia could improve on the number of payment modes.
However, the overall service is quite amazing and it is recommended for personal as well as company use.
