In an update from this weekend’s security breach at URL shortening tool Bitly, the site now insists that users are safe provided that they have changed their passwords.
The site is now promising the introduction of two-factor logins in the future to further secure user data.
Bitly says it noticed the data breach when traffic to its backup source code inexplicably shot up.
“We have a number of projects remaining to continue to add layers of security,” said Bitly CTO Rob Platzer in a blog post.
This will include invalidating Facebook and Twitter credentials, adding GPG encryption for sensitive credentials and updates to its iPhone app.
