How to Watch Hulu Outside US

Hulu Outside US

Learn how to watch Hulu outside US. Hulu Plus is a video-streaming website that is preferred by many for accessing American TV shows, movies and music as well. The good thing about Hulu.com is that users can basically watch videos for free, although there is also a paid version Hulu Plus, with a monthly subscription fee of $7.99) that comes with more fun features.

The main problem with Hulu is that it is not globally available. Only users from certain territories or countries of residency are allowed to watch videos on Hulu. Currently, Hulu is only available in the United States and Japan. So users that live outside of the US who want to watch their favourite American TV shows on Hulu will just end up being disappointed.

Unfortunately, Hulu won’t allow you to access its video library. Check out Hulu.com and you will only be welcomed with this message, “Sorry, currently our video library can only be watched from within the United States.” In this article we’ll show you different methods on how to watch Hulu outside US.

3 Ways of Accessing Hulu Outside US

Don’t get your hopes low just yet, accessing Hulu outside US is very much possible. There are actually different methods of accessing Hulu from abroad. In this article, we will describe the different methods of accessing Hulu from anywhere in the world.

Proxy Servers

proxy server

Proxy servers have long been used to bypass internet restrictions such as geo-targetted restrictions. Just like everything that we will discuss in this article, proxy servers are like the middleman between your system and the internet. So if you want to watch videos on Hulu.com but you’re not in the US, you will need a proxy.

The good: You don’t have to download and install anything to be able to use a proxy service just so you can watch videos on Hulu.com. There are literally hundreds of proxy services online that you can choose from, most of which offer free proxy services!

The bad: Because proxies are known to bypass geographic restriction on the internet, Hulu is already hunting and blocking some of these free proxy services. Another disadvantage of using proxy services to watch videos on Hulu or other online video streaming websites is that they tend to be slower in loading the video contents. You’ll basically have longer loading time than the actual length of the video. Like what we said, most proxies out there are offering free services. But this is not really a good thing. Most of these proxy services are actually fake websites and are being run by hackers. So carefully consider which proxy you will use to access Hulu.com.

Browser add-ons

This method should allow users to access Hulu and all other video streaming websites that implement geographic restrictions. If you don’t want to take the risk by using proxies, you can use this alternative method of accessing Hulu outside US.

The good: Downloading and installing browser add-ons to watch videos on Hulu is absolutely free. If you’re using Firefox and have some technical knowledge, you can download and use this add-on, Modify Headers. Another alternative is the Hola Unblocker which is also a free service available for Chrome and Firefox.

hola unblocker

The bad: If you noticed, we only mentioned add-on for Chrome and Firefox. This is because add-ons for accessing Hulu, Netfilx or BBC iplayer are only available for certain browsers. Hola Unblocker for example is only available for Chrome and Firefox. Other browsers such as IE, Safari, OPERA and others are not supported at the moment. Media Hint is also an extension for Google Chrome and Firefox.

Virtual Private Network

Using VPN is probably the best option for watching videos on Hulu outside US. With a VPN service, you can basically have internet freedom. Another advantage of using a VPN is that you can even use it on your mobile devices. Click here to learn more about VPN.

The good: VPN is more than just for watching videos on streaming websites such as Hulu. It provides you safer, secured, anonymous and restriction-free internet accesses. Like the first methods we discussed, VPN also works by hiding your IP address and using a different one to trick the internet into believing that you are a resident of a certain county, for example the US. Since Hulu prohibits foreign accesses, you can use a VPN service to easily change your IP address with an American IP. A VPN will also encrypt your data so that no unauthorized party could ever access it.

The bad: This is not actually a bad thing, but for some it maybe. VPNs are paid services that allow users to virtually hide themselves from the cyber world. Subscription fee ranges from $4 to as high as $20, depending on which VPN service provider you subscribed to.

You first have to find a reliable VPN service provider that offers all your internet anonymity needs. Here are 3 VPN providers we highly recommend you subscribe to.
